Dr Young values working with other members of the multidisciplinary team. She believes in offering a comprehensive assessment determining biological, emotional and social factors contributing to the presenting symptoms. She then provides support and guidance to the families as needed and works both individually and with the caregivers to find suitable strategies, which may include medication or psychotherapy.
Initial assessments are usually 90 minutes long and will include exploring the presenting concerns as well as a thorough background medical, developmental and family history. Younger children and adolescents are usually seen both individually and together with their parents during a session. Additional information may be obtained through standardised rating scales. Follow up appointments are between 30 and 60 minutes.
